LCD Bartop Design with Marquee and Enclosed Sides
January 6, 2006 The enclosed sides of this cabinet reduce screen glare and create a more traditional alternating-player experience. It is ideal for mini-case CPUs and notebooks driving an external 19" LCD flat-panel monitor. Modifications to cabinet dimensions are required for most larger displays.
The screen bezel cutout should be modified to your display size and position. Use cardboard templates for testing before cutting the screen bezel. The control panel should be designed based on gaming preferences and space requirements. As a minimum, cabinets should include venting cutouts to prevent overheating. Vents should be placed at the top and bottom portions of each required space to allow cooling convection. A computer fan mounted at an upper vent to exhaust hot air is recommended. Audio preferences and installed speakers vary for each user. The placement of required speaker mounting cutouts (if desired) should be determined before cabinet construction. A 1.25" hole should be drilled for power cords, preferably in the lower back panel. Depending on the configuration the cabinet may require a surge protector power strip. A Blender 3D model of this bartop arcade cabinet design is available in our 3D Models section. |
