Disappointing     Warhammer Warcry: Battle for Atluma
The fundamentals of the Warhammer collectible card games are here. Strangely, the cards are difficult to read and the game boards awkward. Newcomers to this genre won't find much of interest, although it is suited for fans of the CCG who need a portable version.
Average     The Warriors
This action game is more fun than the 1979 movie it was adapted from. The story, exploration, interactive environments, and other challenges mix well with the sometimes frustrating battles.
Wipeout Pure     Wipeout Pure

Wipeout Pure brings the futuristic racing series to the PSP. Instead of cars, players control high-speed hovercraft with weapons and shields. Getting to the finish line first is the primary goal, but taking down opponents along the way is part of the fun.

The controls are straightforward and easy to learn, and over time the challenge increases through more difficult tracks, better competition, and higher racing speeds. Multi-player games can include up to 8 total players using Wi-Fi. While there are no online multi-player options, there is an in-game download site with additional content that almost doubles the UMD game content.

The graphics are amazing, and even though this game was released in 2005 it really showcases the PSP's abilities. The racers are well designed and detailed, the environments are colorful and beautifully textured, and the effects tie everything together to create great action and entertainment. There are a few occasional issues with frame-skipping, but they don't affect game-play enough to be a problem.

A female voice announces power-ups and warns against upcoming hazards. The background music is upbeat electronic, and the sound effects fit the action. All of the audio works together, further enhancing the experience.

Wipeout Pure is not only a fun racing title, but it really demonstrates how game-play, graphics, and audio can all work together to make a good game.

Disappointing     World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions
The initial loading times are abysmal. Even with in-game commentary and licensed recognizable professionals to play against, it is more interesting to watch poker on TV. A cheap deck of cards offers more entertainment and options.
Average     World Soccer Winning Eleven 9
Controls are uncomplicated and intuitive, and impressive graphics include great character animations. These positives are offset by a lack of franchised teams/players, sometimes excessive loading times, and a repetitive and pointless soundtrack.
World Tour Soccer 06Good     World Tour Soccer 06

World Tour Soccer offers plenty of short and extended play options. The matches are easy to control and follow on the PSP screen, and character animation is smooth and convincing. A score brings several replays from different angles, along with close-ups of the players "hamming it up." Options include the same game score indicators and replays seen in sports broadcasts, all of which make the game more interactive and engaging. Likewise, the audio with announcers, commentary, and crowd response makes World Tour Soccer significantly more entertaining.

The initial selection of teams is somewhat sparse, but more teams and stadiums are unlocked as player skills develop and tournaments won. Wi-Fi multiplayer is limited to exhibition matches, and while fun it is somewhat disappointing that more options weren't available.

World Tour Soccer is pleasant surprise, because of the excellent controls and engaging game-play. This is a sports game that can appeal to even to those who are not soccer or sports enthusiasts.

Disappointing     Worms: Open Warfare
In single-player mode, the computer opponents often demonstrate insane accuracy with perfect trajectories and ricochets — accuracy which is impossible with the user interface. The game is best in Wi-Fi multi-player mode, since the fore-mentioned single-player issue is resolved with equally handicapped human opponents.
Average     WRC: FIA World Rally Championship
Voiced navigator audio combined with beautiful graphics make this is a fun change from the plethora of street racing titles. The difficulty makes it less suited for casual gamers or those who are easily frustrated.
Average     WTF: Work Time Fun
These mini-games are structured around taking temp jobs, earning money, buying trinkets, and in-game emails. While it offers a lot of style, this title is only for those with a compatible sense of humor.
